Why such a tortured theme title?
What is now ten years plus in evoking emotions through my art, I have discovered and entertained the fact that I create my art with what inspires me. And, what inspires me is my imagination as well as what surrounds me. It could be a photo I saw, an image from any other medium, the environment that surrounds us all. As for my imagination, this requires calmness and time. Imagination though works for me in the early morning leading to a complete ignoring time and space. This series is divided into three parts, Cantata, Sonata, and Intermezzo. Taken in order, the cantata applies broadly to works for solo voice, multiple soloists, vocal ensemble, and with instrumental accompaniment of keyboard or instrumental ensemble. These pieces of the sea to the sky and earth is a melody that evokes harmony in all of us calling our attention to the relationship of these elements. The sonata is originally meant simply as a piece of instrumental music as opposed to a song. As I was working on the Cantata pieces (that melody of the interplay of earth, sea, wind, and sky) I started working with colour using the same format. It came to me that there was more of a fun design aspect that was not a song but a sound. And as for intermezzo, a short light entr'acte, a movement coming between the major sections of an extended musical work (such as a new series I am working on) or a short independent instrumental composition (my flights of fantasy). These paintings (a respite) usually appear after I've worked on the body of the series.
Pourquoi un titre de thème aussi torturé ?
Depuis maintenant plus de dix ans à évoquer des émotions à travers mon art, j'ai découvert et diverti le fait que je crée mon art avec ce qui m'inspire. Et, ce qui m'inspire, c'est mon imagination ainsi que ce qui m'entoure. Ce pourrait être une photo que j'ai vue, une image de n'importe quel support, l'environnement qui nous entoure tous. Quant à mon imagination, cela demande du calme et du temps. L'imagination fonctionne cependant pour moi tôt le matin, ce qui conduit à une totale ignorance du temps et de l'espace. Cette série est divisée en trois parties, Cantate, Sonate et Intermezzo. Prise dans l'ordre, la cantate s'applique largement aux œuvres pour voix seule, solistes multiples, ensemble vocal et avec accompagnement instrumental de clavier ou d'ensemble instrumental. Ces oeuvres de la mer au ciel et à la terre sont une mélodie qui évoque l'harmonie en chacun de nous attirant notre attention sur la relation entre ces éléments. La sonate est à l'origine simplement conçue comme un pièce de musique instrumentale par opposition à une chanson. Alors que je travaillais sur les pièces de Cantate (cette mélodie de l'interaction de la terre, de la mer, du vent et du ciel), j'ai commencé à travailler avec la couleur en utilisant le même format. Il m'est venu à l'esprit qu'il y avait plus une chose de conception amusante qui n'était pas une chanson, mais un son. Et quant à l'intermezzo, un court entracte léger, un mouvement s'intercalant entre les grandes sections d'une œuvre musicale prolongée (comme une nouvelle série sur laquelle je travaille) ou une courte composition instrumentale indépendante (mes envolées de fantaisie). Ces peintures (un répit) apparaissent généralement après que j'ai travaillé sur le corps de la série.

What I have posted is the first pieces of my fourth solo show that is scheduled for May 2022 at Gallery ERGA in Montreal Quebec. The show has three elements to it: Cantata, Sonata and Intermezzo. In my 10 plus years of painting, I have discovered that I create the bulk of my work yet wandering off to get out of the focus of the core subject matter. This show called Endogenous/Exogenous is how I recognized that I wander when I paint a series. The collector will ultimately see my wanderings and be free to choose the core of the pieces Cantata, Sonata, or an intermezzo. The image provided is one of the intermezzos.

Ce que j'ai posté, ce sont les premières pièces de ma quatrième exposition solo qui est prévue pour mai 2022 à la Galerie ERGA à Montréal Québec. Le spectacle comporte trois éléments : Cantate, Sonate et Intermezzo. Au cours de mes 10 années et plus de peinture, j'ai découvert que je créais la majeure partie de mon travail tout en m'éloignant pour sortir du centre du sujet principal. Ce spectacle appelé Endogène/Exogène est la façon dont je reconnais que je déambule lorsque je peins une série. Le collectionneur verra finalement mes pérégrinations et sera libre de choisir le noyau des pièces Cantate ou Sonate. Ainsi que le(s) intermezzo(s). L'image fournie est l'un des intermezzo(s).
