Among the litter of Ads in a strip mall, one sign stands out and triggers a flavour you can taste with your eyes. The beautiful tall and lonely palms swaying in the endless, cloudless Southern California sky is the canvas with which I begin to tell a story. The surreal green sky and the warm inviting palms are the backdrop to highlight An American Cafe. Captured and strategically placed popping up at the edge of the image, Diner signs reminds us of a road trip and warm travel days.
As I photograph new signage I know the story I want to tell and the feelings I want you, the viewer, to enjoy. As the series expands so does a story which reaches many who can relate to the memories and experiences.
