About the work

Over the past several years I have created a Peace Garden. As I transformed a one acre corner of the two hundred acre farm, I became inspired by the seeds, branches, growth, and abundance that mother nature provides. It was especially rewarding to witness the changing seasons.
I have begun a new series of work based on this experience, where I take these elements and spread them over the canvas. I then carefully splatter black paint over the entire area. Let it dry and then remove the branches, twigs and seeds. I feel that the spirit of each leaf, branch etc. is caputered in a simple way. Much like the handprints of the early cave paintings.
This series is a vast departure from my usual use of colour. These pieces are for the most part black and white. This style looks fabulous in a modern setting and I could see some very large pieces happening over time.
Canvas is painted on a deep stretcher bar and looks excellent with or without a frame. I double pack my work for safe shipping.
