About the work

"The Great Fire of Rome" depicts how the city was severely damaged during the great fire in the year 64 AD.

The fire already destroyed several buildings and is on its unforgiving way to damage the city even further.
The sky, now completely red, is covered with a dense layer of smoke making it impossible to separate day from night.

The city would burn for 9 more days before the fire was finally under control. In the aftermath, it will turn out that two-thirds of the city was destroyed.

For all my paintings I exclusively use high-end oil paint and premium canvas to ensure top quality.
Paintings will be varnished for protection against sunlight, dust and scratches.
