About the work

The Moses sculpture was found in the Monmarte cemetery in Paris. I originally took this photo because there was a beautiful grey cat sunbathing at the foot of the sculpture. The tomb turned out to be that of Daniel Iffla Osiris, who makes interesting reading on wikipedia!

This skateboard is the first in a series of three inspired by classical sculpture.

I strip each skateboard down to the bare wood, preparing the surface for painting. Once painted, I protect it with five coats of varnish, which really bring out the wood grain.

This is an acrylic paint job on a 7-ply Canadian maple skateboard. The truck holes in the board make it easy to hang!
