Within the images lies a suggestion of active decisionmaking—
a call to action in response to an uncertain future.
Some images hint at crossroads—actual intersections where
the viewer realizes implications of what’s occurred or what’s yet
to come. These moments hinge on choices: to move forward
or to turn back, each leading to different outcomes.
I use software to edit the images (to mimic the less-than-perfect
processes of the past, such as pinhole and vintage picture disc
story viewer aesthetics) and impose the text… much like
a subtitled film still.
The images are simultaneously recognizable and mysterious—
sometimes hopefully reassuring—depending on the
associations one brings to them. Do the paths depicted lead
to perilous encounters or warm embraces? Each of us holds our
own narratives, and ultimately, it is our individual interpretations
that determine the outcome of the journey.
