Brian Downes

Artist, renovator, social worker, tree faller, clam digger, bush mystic, gallery owner, art teacher. The various occupations of Brian Downes have been as wide ranging as the ever changing landscapes of his art, rooted and nourished with frequent plein air ( outside ) painting excursions.

Throughout the decades, the many addresses; Ontario, Ohio, West Coast, Peace River and points between, now Red Deer, Alberta. Downes' passion has remained rooted in nature, where he feels a reciprocated empathy and deep spiritual connection.

Traditionally a water colorist, he also embraces acrylics in a familiar water dance. Brian's work throughout the years has flowed back and forth between impressionism and realism.
