Caroline Donati

Caroline Donati is a representational painter who is fascinated by her natural environment; particularly the effects of sunlight and the constantly changing colours. She uses oils to express the glow and energy that she feels radiating from nature and flowing back to us.

Her process consists of constructing a painting through layers. Sometimes she lets these layers dry before continuing. Other times, she works wet-on-wet. Donati begins by establishing her composition and values and then builds up the painting by adding layers of colour. As the painting progresses and begins to reveal its personality, looser and brighter brushstrokes are applied to convey the energy and emotion behind the painting.

Donati has a Collegial Diploma in Fine Arts and a BA in Communications. She now lives within walking distance of the woods of l'Ile-Bizard, a place that has inspired many of her paintings.
