"A work of art is like music; it's a journey into emotion. What matters in the end is how you felt. "Monique Boudreau

This original artist, born in the 60s, grew up in Montreal. Her talent was noticed at an early age, and was put to good use in banners and cover pages for publications of various events, both primary and secondary.

Despite her determination to develop this spark within her, it was at her parents' insistence that she studied marketing at Cegep Rosemont. Armed with this diploma, she worked for various companies over the years, but that little flame never went out. While juggling her life as an entrepreneur and mom, she also took various artistic courses. In her thirties, it was in the studio that she learned how to mix colors and began painting her first oil canvases. A few years later, Raymond LĂ©tourneau also left his mark on her career with his live-model workshops. The short breaks and changes shook up the artist, who learned to execute charcoal sketches more quickly.

In her late forties, she took the bull by the horns and went back to school. She enrolled at the Académie des Arts et du Design de Montréal (AADMTL) and took an intensive course in interior architecture. Her grades were excellent, but she also had a revelation that would put an end to this new impetus: "I just want to be an artist and create works of art". After some research, her choice fell on René Milone. His tutorials exploring different techniques and his versatile knowledge of various mediums made him the ideal teacher. While following his workshops, Monique extended her training with other talented artists such as Antoine Bittar - impressionist painter, Marie-Andrée Couture - collage painter and Martine Letourneau - sculptor.

Her first exhibition took place at Atelier René Milone in June 2013. It was followed by the exhibition "Le salon des Arts Visuels de Brossard" in April 2015 and then at "Plaisir d'Artistes de Montréal" in May 2015. She won a "Mention of Excellence" from the jury in 2016 for the international Césure competition. It was enough to give her wings, and since then she has been exhibiting every year and taking part in competitions. In 2020, she had her first symposium and, in order to propel her career forward, her latest training was in entrepreneurship for the visual arts, given by the Quebec Ministry of Education through Zoom Académie, from which she graduated in spring 2020.

Straddling two borders, her art conveys a powerful environmental and psychological message. Often mixed techniques are used to make clearer what she wishes to express.
She has the privilege of working from her studio, in her home on Montreal's South Shore. Living life to the full and taking time out for her family and friends, her days are governed mainly by her art, with which she hopes to touch people's hearts and, why not, awaken them as well as fill them with wonder.
