Rabia Usman Rizvi was born in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her BFA from the prestigious National College of Arts (N.C.A.), Lahore, Pakistan in Fine Arts in 1993, and received Honours in her thesis work. During her four year undergrad she also received training in the traditional Mughal and Persian miniature art in which watercolour medium is used. In 1996 she moved to Canada and went to the Ottawa School of Arts, Ottawa, where she took painting, ceramics, and photography courses. She later moved to Sarnia, Ontario, where she currently resides with her husband and her two kids. In Sarnia she taught children’s arts workshops at a local gallery, Gallery Lambton, as well as participated in their “Look” group art shows. She also had two art shows, the first one at the Gallery Lambton Foyer called “Landscapes and Architecture” in 2004. The second two person show “Landscapes and Architecture 2” was exhibited at Gallery in the Grove, Sarnia in 2010. In 2010 she went back to school and got a degree in teaching and ECE. Her biggest inspiration was her mom professor Kishwar Rizvi (Zia) who was an artist and a Fine Arts professor at a local college in Pakistan, as well as her teachers at N.C.A. namely Ustad Bashir Ahmad and oil painter late Askari Mian Irani.
