1999 - 2003
Bachelor of Art and Design with Honors, Exeter University, UK

Painting and ceramics have been my passion for over two decades and making and selling my creations quickly became my full-time occupation. Throughout the years I've also had the privilege to share the skills I've learned by teaching art and pottery classes to people of all ages.

I was born and grew up in Cornwall, England. I am still influenced by the beautiful colours of the coast and the landscape throughout the southwest. Whilst in the England, I completed a diploma in Printing and Graphics at Plymouth College of Art and Design, followed by Fine Arts at Exeter University and graduated with Honours. I moved to Ontario, Canada in 2004, where I lived on a beautiful lake surrounded by trees and where there was an abundance of wildlife to inspire me every day. I then relocated to Medicine Hat Alberta in 2018. I am always influenced by what I find beautiful in my environment and the places I visit. I have fallen in love with the beautiful colours of the prairie sky and the dramatic diversity of the landscape, from the Rocky Mountains to the unique geological structures found in the badlands.

As well as the environment that surrounds me, I'm always inspired by the people in my life, especially my family and friends. My art is a physical manifestation of the beauty I see in my experiences. Creating has always been a great way for me to process emotions and express my observations, concerns and aspirations. As I have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), I spend my life jumping from one hyper-focus to the next, so creating and learning different art keeps me energized and excited. I love learning new things and have continued taking as many art and pottery classes as possible over the years. I strive to improve and gain skills to help me get closer to producing work that looks like the vision I have in my mind when starting a piece of artwork. I'm in a never-ending quest to get closer to achieving work in line with my personal aesthetic that reflects the beauty I see in the world always with the use of bright bold colour. Creating alleviates my symptoms of anxiety; it grounds me and gives me a sense of satisfaction, joy and connection to the world around me.
