My love for creating art started very young by exploring scenes of everyday life through the eyes of a child.
I graduated from the School of Design and Visual Arts program at Georgian College with a minor in Art History. It was during this 3-year program that my creative curiosity and desire to learn all I could about art was really awakened.
After graduating from Georgian, I decided to further my education by completing an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. I also took a one-year program in Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. It was an incredibly intensive year of self-reflection and ultimately, I came to the realization that what I really wanted to do was paint and create art.
I have attended many workshops including Haliburton School of the Arts. My art has been juried into shows in Toronto, Orillia, Sudbury and most recently Tides Contemporary Art Gallery, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
My choice of media has changed over the years, beginning with pastel and presently acrylic on canvas and birch panels. As a former member of the Pastel Artists of Canada (PAC) I attended many workshops, conferences and plein air sessions in the spectacular beauty of New Mexico. My palette often reflects my love of the warm sienna and turquoise found there.
My recent works have items attached to the canvas to create interest, texture and dimension. Torn paper collage is also finding its way into my newest paintings as I love exploring new ways to start a conversation visually.
