Painting with acrylic paint and conté crayons on vintage paper. The scene shows supports for drying nets and washing poles 'down the shore' at the bottom of my street in Avoch, Scotland, all the supports and poles but two long gone decades ago. You can discern some words of The Songs of the Isles from the 1960s in the distressed 'blank' surround. The floral border is formed from rougnly torn wallpaper from the early 20th century, found several layers deep in my fisherman's cottage just along from this scene.
The grand sweep to the composition contrasts with the loose brushstrokes and treatment.
The picture has been created on a cradled wood panel treated to archival standards to preserve the work. The wood has been sealed with Golden GAC 100, the paper coated on both sides with Golden soft gel medium and the picture given two final layers of protection with Golden UV matte varnish.
The collage wraps over the sides of the wood panel and requires no frame. The picture has been wired and is ready to hang. Signed on the reverse with description and title.
