Released a new album

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Canadian-born folk/country musician Amanda Von Riesen captivates listeners with her traditional country sound, compelling lyrics, and expressive vocals.

A Drinking Woman’s Words, Amanda's first solo, full-length album, is an 11-song collection delivering gritty, honest stories of contemplation, reflection, and her descriptive interpretation of the human soul and life connections. Like her visual art, her writing has shades of realism, abstract, and impressionism within the lyrics. Produced by seasoned country music veteran Joe Reed, A Drinking Woman’s Words is set for release on September 9, 2022.

The album is filled with personal stories of love, heartache, recovery, and the world through her eyes. “All of the songs on the record came to me relatively close together one after another – like mana from heaven,” said Amanda Von Riesen. “Each song is directly inspired by my own demons and observing others’ lives – their trials, temptations, and experiences while trying to live happy and free in a chaotic world. The melodies and lyrics just kind of came out. I had to get them down quick before I lost them,” she continued.

Originally from Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada, Amanda names Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Hayes Carll, and Dwight Yoakam as her musical influences among others. In 2016, the singer/songwriter helped to form Poets & Lies, the group for which she led vocals and collaborated to expand her creativeness. Throughout the next few years, Poets & Lies performed, recorded, and garnered numerous nominations from the Manitoba Country Music Awards.

Amanda is also an accomplished visual artist, having shown and created original work throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
