No COVID this Christmas season, although, also was around a lot less people!
Anticipated having my son for New Years Eve, unfortunately COVID went through his mom's house, thanks to his older sister catching it from work!
Alas, that left me with a quiet ringing in of 2023. I spent it chilling, watching movies and painting, of course.
A lot more time outside this winter has left me in better spirits I find. It has helped me maintain a bit of a creative momentum. Well, with my painting, at least. I am still dealing with crippling imposter syndrome with my writing, as once again, I find myself stuck at another plot point in a script. Thankfully, I easily bounce from one creative thing to another, each a complimentary process, I work through those plot points as I play with the paint!

As a friend once shared with me, there is no bad art. However, when producing one can never help being their own worst critic. Many pieces I have made never see the light of day in a public eye. My apartment is full of them!
You can't help but enjoy that elation when someone approaches you about your work and shares how it makes them feel.
I had just finished my latest piece, preparing it for posting on my account for sale, when I was approached by my neighbour. He needed for his kitchen and was admiring the piece i was varnishing.
The value of the impression my work made to him was worth every second I put into these pieces.
So before I even got it posted, it was sold!
A New Space a New Chapter
For most of us COVID has taken a mental and physical toll. A change was on the horizon for me and came this past May 2022.
With hyperinflation it was a daunting task to embark on this chapter and find a new space. My patience paid off and found an ideal place, close to my children, still within Ottawa, which I've fallen in love with since moving here in 2013, clean and comfortable to both work and live. With the uncertainty life has to give, I needed somewhere I could see myself either permanently or temporary. The key for me was, do I feel I can create my best here. The time here has already made me confident in my choice.
