When I was 25 and in military school, a Sargent asked my platoon if anyone had any artistic talent. Thinking it would be a good way to get out of less pleasing work, I raised my hand. I was brought to the school commandant who asked me if I could paint the Canadian military engineer emblem. To be honest, I didn’t know if I could. It was going to be my first time painting on canvas, and the picture itself was more detailed than anything I had ever done. Knowing that I wouldn’t get a second chance at it, I did what any young pretentious man would do. I lied. “Ha! Not a problem.” I said. “I could do that in my sleep.” Suffice it to say, it took much MUCH longer than it should have, but by the end, it looked pretty good. What is more however, is that I had found a new love. I had enjoyed it so much I started buying art supplies and working on my own projects. Here I am 20 years later and I think I learn something new with each piece I do. It wasn’t until I had people asking me if I’d be interested in selling some of my art that I started believing I was any good. I play with different methods and try new ideas and I enjoy it more and more as time goes by. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of black and white recreations of peoples pictures and I believe I may have found my specialty but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

J’avais 25 ans et j’étais à l’école militaire quand mon sergeant a demandé à mon peloton si quelqu’un avais des talents d’artistes. Sachant que ça serais une bonne façon d’éviter des travaux moins plaisants, j’ai levé ma main. On m’a demandé si je serais capable de peinturer l’emblème du génie militaire Canadien. Je n’étais pas sûr si j’avais l’aptitude nécessaire pour la tâche mais je savais que ça serait ma seule chance. Alors, j’ai mentit et je leur ai dit « Bien sur. Pas de problème » comme vous pouvez imaginer, ça m’as pris beaucoup BEAUCOUP plus longtemps à finir que ce qu’il aurait du me prendre, mais, une fois finit, la toile étais plus que passable. Mais plus que ça, j’avais tombé en amour avec le travail. Si tôt fini, je me suis acheté les outils nécessaires et j’ai commencé à faire mes propres peintures. Me voilà, 20 ans plus tard et j’aime toujours ça. J’apprends quelques choses de nouveau à chaque fois que je prend le pinceaux. C’est quand on a commencé à me demander de vendre mes pièces d’art que j’ai compris que j’étais compétent. Maintenant, j’utilise différentes méthodes et j’essaie de nouvelles idées et je trouve que j’aime ça de plus en plus. De ces temps ci, je fais beaucoup de récréation en noir et blanc d’es photos de mes clients et je pense que c’est devenu ma spécialité mais qui sais qu’est-ce je vais découvrir dans le futur.
