Jim White

I have been a teacher, visual artist and photographer for more that 45 years. I have recently retired from teaching and plan to continue my passion for photography and visual arts. I have always been passionate about art. I began drawing and sketching at an early age then later explored oil and acrylic painting, eventually choosing watercolour as my favorite medium. I enjoy the spontaneity and discovery that watercolour provides.
I have been teaching Visual Communication for the last 30 years and now incorporate digital art into much of my work. Technology has improved so much in the last few years that I can now use a tablet to paint using digital brushes. My iPad becomes a wet sheet of watercolour paper allowing me to coax the pigment where I want it to go, just like the real thing. It's amazing!
I have a diploma in visual arts from the Grande Prairie Regional College and have a B.Ed. degree in art education from the University of Calgary. I have been teaching Digital Arts, Photography and Videography for the Grande Prairie Public School District for many years.
