Marc Tremblay

Born in 1969 in Chicoutimi, Quebec.
Ever since I was a child, I've been fascinated by cinema and comic strips. However, it was an animated film that transformed my life. René Laloux's "La planète sauvage" really opened up my taste for beautiful images. From that moment on, drawing was a passion that never wavered.

I was often discouraged from pursuing a real career in the arts. I studied multimedia, computer science and psychology before settling on a bachelor's degree in visual arts. With my style, always on the borderline with comics. The search for a strong, personal identity was a long journey that finally came to fruition with digital printmaking. It was when I saw an artist reproduce a Rembrandt canvas that I fell in love with this innovative approach. The passion had truly taken off.

I dive even deeper into Pop Art. I add a more critical aspect of our consumer society, which is leading us straight towards an ecological catastrophe. The duality of beauty and everyday carelessness, with all its attendant habits and destructive behavior. It's a love/hate relationship with our culture. Its beauty, but also its influence on the mechanisms of our civilization. The emphasis is on a paradoxical representation of popular culture, leading us more subtly to concerns about our future. The tragic side of our daily lives rubs shoulders with the many facets and hopes of life.

My major influences will always be cinema and comics. Caza, Serpieri, Bilal, but also artists like Corno, Voka, Bak, Mucha or Ferri.
