Over the past ten years, I've been exploring encaustic and cold wax (the emulsion of the encaustic medium); the combination of cold wax and oil has seduced me and become my preferred medium.

I work in the spirit of Wabi-sabi, a Japanese concept, philosophy and aesthetic that recognizes the beauty of the imperfect, the transitory and the handmade. It's a concept of intuitive artistic creation: the experience can be compared to traveling without a map. Before one of my paintings is presented to the public, it will already have undergone many metamorphoses. Passing from a playful phase to one of exploration and clarification, not forgetting the inevitable comings and goings, it will be days or weeks before it finally reaches maturity. Traces/scars of these transformations are often visible if you take the trouble to look closely.

My works are neither figurative nor descriptive, and although I don't consciously choose to create autobiographical works, I sometimes unknowingly project a sensibility from my own experience that is perceptible to observers.

I suspect that this sensitivity is the result of my use of pastel colors, which I emphasize in most of my work, because I feel at one with them. Am I a "color poet", as I've been called... why not?

Poet or not, I like to imagine that my audience can establish "their own connection" with the work; that they are led to travel through the canvas and discover those ever-visible scars, while soaking up the sensibility that may have taken root there.
