About the work
Berkeley #6 is an abstraction of a reflection taken at the Berkeley Marina peeking through a lattuce of dramatic hoizonal black lines and vertical lavender stripes which move up the sides of the picture's composition. A vertical red rectangle ankors the center of the painting with a black vertical line to create additional visual restraint on the organic shapes. The overal impressions is by contrasting the organic reflection and providing a foil for hard edges of the black, lavender and red elements that strive to contain the organic elements straining to emerge. While the vertical elements march across the picture plane from left to right.
